You might recall a few weeks ago we shared a blog post about our new trainee estimator Jack Deacon taking time away from the office one week per month to gain practical experience on the building site, we thought we’d share an update of how he’s getting on.
This week he learned some valuable skills by assisting with the installation of the composite panel roofing at our Walker Snacks site in Bellshill. Jack has been with the company now for over 4 months and is settling well into his role as trainee sales and estimating.
Earlier on in the year, Jack spent two weeks on site installing Kalzip built up standing seam roofing at our Kirkliston Primary School project. Jack will return over the next week to see first hand what it’s like when the final touches are being completed, by assisting with the installation of cappings, verges etc.
Coming directly from University, Jack has found the ‘hands on’ experience invaluable and looks forward to working on further projects now that the weather is a bit fairer. In addition to site experience, Jack has visited several of our suppliers to experience fabrications being manufactured.
Curtis Moore are dedicated to staff development and as such we’ve arranged a factory tour and training day at Kingspan in North Wales for early May for Jack, we’ll be sure to share this when it comes.
