Following the success of the Odeon Cinema Refurbishment, Curtis Moore were appointed as principal contractor for the refurbishment of the Hollywood Bowl Building also within Glasgow’s Springfield Quay. This again was another refurbishment project which involved the removal of the existing external skin complete with existing insulation, support grid and VCL and replacing with 2808m2 of Kalzip standing seam roofing. As with the Odeon Cinema, acting as principal contractor meant taking on additional duties such as the creation of a construction phase Health and Safety plan, F10 notification, providing welfare on site, creating a transport plan, arranging permits as well as records of inspections and registers. The bowling complex and surrounding restaurants/cinema/hotel and car park remained open throughout the duration of the project. Extreme care was taken with regards to health and safety and environmental issues and Curtis Moore had to ensure minimal disruption to the public which included extremely low volumes of noise whilst working. Curtis Moore completed this project on time, within budget, to a high standard and most importantly safely with minimal disruption to the public. The large curved Kalzip sheets on both the Hollywood Bowl and Odeon Cinema look excellent and have completely transformed the aesthetic of the buildings which can clearly be seen from the motorway above. It’s great to see a busy, family area being brought back to life!
