Our team on the HM2 turbine hall at Hinkley Point C has been rolling 56-metre Kalzip standing seam roof sheets at ground level, then lifting them onto the roof on a 60-metre beam.
That’s a single roof sheet longer than an Olympic swimming pool, lifted on an even longer beam.
Why roll on site?
Rolling the sheets beside the building means:
- no road transport limits on sheet length
- no end laps across the roof
- a continuous, weathertight roof from eaves to eaves
Where we are on HM2
HM2 follows the handover of the HM1 turbine hall envelope in March 2025. We’re delivering Kalzip 65/400 roofing and cladding to both turbine halls for BYLOR, with the HM2 envelope due for completion in early Q4 2026.
