Our Nuclear Services
Curtis Moore have been undertaking work in the Nuclear sector for many years. During this time, we have carried out works for major industry stakeholders, including; BAE Systems, Sellafield, Rolls Royce and Babcock, working on projects across the UK, ranging from decommissioning, new build, refurbishment and maintenance. In December 2022, the company was awarded a multi million pound contract for the envelope cladding to the two turbine halls and HY Building at the new Hinkley Point Power Station. Works commenced in April 2023 with a three year duration on site
The Nuclear Sector is often complex, with individual projects presenting challenges that are unique to this environment. Over the years Curtis Moore have established ourselves as a specialist in this sector. We have extensive experience in handling security restricted information. Our Glasgow office has a List N secure room, which is audited and verified by industry regulators, allowing us to handle, review and create Official Sensitive documentation. In addition to this, many of our staff, across all departments, are BPSS or SC Cleared and hold passes for many national nuclear facilities.
The scope of the projects we undertake in the nuclear sector varies due to the unique nature of the environment. We are unfortunately, unable to share detailed information on many of these projects, due to security classification however, package values within this sector to date up to £33m. As part of these projects we have installed a full range of external envelope products, including; Kalzip Standing Seam Roofing, a favoured system in coastal / industrial environments typical of projects in the nuclear sector; Paroc and Euroclad composite panels, favoured for their fire performance; Bailey and Sotech Rainscreen Cladding, Curtain Walling, Built up cladding systems, single ply and hot melt roofing, louvres, as well as bespoke fabrications.
As well as carrying out on-site works, we also worked closely with clients on number of major projects, providing extensive early contractor design involvement. This early involvement has allowed us to work collaboratively with the client, developing the design intent, scope and methodology as well as finding design solutions to project specific challenges with an aim of simplifying on site construction, whilst meeting the project requirements.
